King’s Real Estate & Property Society hosted CBRE Global Investors for an introduction to fund management talk. CBRE Global Investors is one of the world’s largest real estate investment management firms with $86.6 billion AUM. There was a formal presentation given by Sasha Noble, Director (Fund Manager), and Fund Analyst Matt Beevor from CBREGI, followed by an interactive Q&A session.

Women in a Male-dominated Industry

This was an event for female students to be inspired by successful women who have navigated and flourished in the property industry. The event consisted of a one hour panel where industry professionals discussed their career and gave advice and insight into how to succeed in a male dominated career sector. This was followed by a Q&A where the audience got a chance to ask specific questions to our wonderful panellists. It ended with networking drinks in order to connect the women and companies with the student talent present at the event. The panellists for the evening were some fabulous women who all offer a different insight into the industry from property law to asset management and from social housing to development, finance and planning.

King’s Estates: Interactive Case Study

The Directors of the KCL Estates were back again this year for a talk about the development of the University Real Estate. The event gave an overview of last year’s transactions that King’s has completed as well as some of the ongoing and future projects. The Directors presented some of the most challenging cases they worked on while encouraging attendants to participate in the discussion.

Attendees heard from industry professionals as they discuss how to launch a successful property business. The speakers were: CEO of Home Made, Asaf Navot, on the use of technology & data analytics to create a hybrid lettings agency for landlords. CEO of Lifenest, Mike Seymour, on designing a bespoke online estate agent for the 21st century. CEO of Homie , Alexander Eid, on streamlining the rental process and personalising rental services for the modern world. Representative from Unmortgage, Dominic Pulver , on a new model for building home equity in an unaffordable property market. They shared their success stories and experiences along with practical tips on how to go out on your own into the property world.

Speakers from CBRE, Schroders, and HSBC gave insights on how they got started in the property industry, and what a day in the life of their job looks like. Attendees were then able to ask questions in the post-panel Q&A session, and were also able to have a chat with the speakers over food and canapes overlooking the River Thames.
